Setup guide

Setup call forwarding to Ellie.

We've set up a dedicated Ellie number for your business. Your customers keep calling the number they already know — their carrier just quietly redirects it to Ellie, so nothing changes for them, only who picks up.

Step 2 Their network forwards it to your Ellie number

What you'll need before dialling any code

Your Ellie number in full national format, no spaces or dashes when you actually key it in — e.g. if Ellie's number were 0412 345 678, you'd type 0412345678. Know which carrier your existing business line is with — the codes below only work on their own network. Each one shows a worked example using that sample number so you can see exactly what the finished code looks like.

Unconditional vs. no-answer forwarding

Unconditional forwarding sends every call straight to Ellie. No-answer forwarding only kicks in if nobody picks up — useful if you still want first crack at answering in person.

Landline & mobile
Unconditional — landline
*21[number]#
e.g. *210412345678#
Unconditional — mobile
**21*[number]*10#
e.g. **21*0412345678*10#
  1. Replace [number] with your Ellie number, full national format.
  2. Landline: dial the code on the handset and hang up. Mobile: dial the code, then press the green call button.
  3. Check it's active any time with *#21#.
  4. Cancel — landline: #21#. Mobile: ##21#.
💬No-answer only, instead of every call? Landline *61[number]#, mobile **61*[number]*10# — cancel with #61# (landline) or ##61# (mobile).
Landline
Unconditional — all calls
*78[number]
e.g. *780412345678
  1. Dial *78, then your Ellie number straight after — include the area code, no gap.
  2. Listen for two short beeps. That's your confirmation it's on.
  3. Check the status any time with *#78#.
  4. Cancel with #78.
💬Mobile forwarding on Optus is set from the handset's own Call Settings menu rather than a dial code — the exact menu path varies by phone model.
Mobile
Unconditional
**21*[number]#
e.g. **21*0412345678#
No answer
**61*[number]#
e.g. **61*0412345678#
  1. Dial the code with your Ellie number in place of [number], then call.
  2. Confirm with *#21# (or *#61# for no-answer).
  3. Cancel with #21# (or #61#).
Vodafone doesn't charge extra for forwarding calls within Australia — one less thing to explain to the client.
tpg Home phone / NBN
No dial code — set it in My Account
My Account → View nbn Home Phone Service Account → Control Panel → Call Forwarding/Diverting
  1. Sign in at tpg.com.au/home/myaccount with the account's phone number and password.
  2. Open the nbn Home Phone Service Control Panel, then Call Forwarding/Diverting.
  3. Enter your Ellie number (e.g. 0412 345 678) and choose Divert all incoming calls — or Divert if busy / if no reply (4–39s delay), if you'd rather keep first crack at answering.
💬Setting it up is free, but the diverted call itself is billed at standard rates on the account's plan, and only Australian numbers can be entered as the destination.

Before you leave the client, test it

Call their published number from a different phone and confirm Ellie answers. It's the one step that catches a mistyped number or the wrong carrier code before it becomes a missed booking.

Codes verified against each carrier's own support pages as of this guide's writing — carriers do update these from time to time, so if one doesn't respond as expected, worth a quick check with the carrier directly.
